Islandia was incorporated when CA Technologies built their headquarters in Islandia in 1985 and created a surge in technology jobs. Many residents of Islandia live in one of over 500 housing developments built by Levitt and Sons in the 1960’s. Islandia’s convenience to the rest of Long Island’s attractions and its abundance of technology related jobs make it understandably attractive for residents.
